.@thisIsBizzyBone Details Biggie Recording “Notorious Thugs”

While speaking with Vlad TV, Bone Thugs-n-Harmony rapper Bizzy Bone spoke on working with both Tupac Shakur and the Notorious B.I.G. in the recording studio. The Cleveland, Ohio rapper was first asked how the group’s “Notorious Thugs” collaboration with Biggie came about. According to Bizzy, both Puff Daddy and Steve Lobel helped in putting the collab together. The rapper also revealed that it took Biggie “a minute” to get the style of “Notorious Thugs” down since he and those in Bone Thugs-n-Harmony were from varying regions of the country. “We were all in the studio together, man. It was a wonderful thing,” Bizzy Bone said. “Actually, Stevie J, he produced the track. He don’t get enough credit. He produced the track…We laid the ground rules of it and then he had to learn it. We from the Midwest. He from the East Coast. It take a minute…He took it back home. He marinated with it and he made a hit. It’s a difference in—He was a musician, man. And he wanted the best product, the best material that he could. And that’s what he wanted. And that’s what he gave us. It was a hell of a verse.” Bizzy Bone later commented on working with Tupac in the studio. He referred to the late rapper as “a one-hitter-quitter” and revealed that “his work ethic was crazy.” “We were in the studio together. I actually got to see the man work and it was monumental,” he said. “It was a blessing…He was a one-hitter-quitter. He got in the studio and he was quick with it. One verse, add a couple of dubs, and he was done. His work ethic was crazy.” In addition to speaking on Biggie and Tupac, Bizzy Bone also addressed newcomer Kendrick Lamar. He spoke on K-Dot possibly paying homage to Bone Thugs-n-Harmony with his sound on various records. “It’s a beautiful thing, man. Just with anybody and everything that’s going on with the business,” Bizzy Bone said. “It’s like we added something real cool to the table. And that feel good within itself. You know what I mean? Just knowing that you did something beyond [going] platinum and all that other cool stuff. You added something to the genre in your own way. So, that’s the benefit right there for the Bone Thugs crew. “ Bizzy Bone’s interview with Vlad TV can be found below.
